JAMMU PRESS CLUB HAD HIGHEST CONSUMPTION OF LIQUOR IN 2011-12: GOVT

Jammu, Mar 6 (Only Kashmir): Jammu and Kashmir Government today said Press Club of Jammu has shown the highest consumption of liquor in the year 2011 upto January 2012.
The government today gave a written reply to a question raised by the BJP's 'disqualified' MLA from Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma seeking district-wise details of the excise revenue earned and consumption of liquor during the past two years and in the current besides details regarding consumption of liquor in each club in terms of quantity and cost.
The government said 10, 828 Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 7,572 beer bottles were consumed in the Press Club of Jammu in 2011 upto January, 2012.
However, in the same period, the consumption of liquor was estimated in Jammu Club was 6655 (IMFL) and 6,702 beer bottles and in Amar Singh Club, the figure was calculated as 5,020 (IMFL) and 4124 beer bottles," the government replied.
The government further said in 2010-11, consumption of liquor in the Press Club was 12,901 (IMFL) and 9,563 beer bottles followed by Jammu Club with 9041 IMFL and 7341 beer bottles while Amar Singh Club flowed with 6647 IMFL and 5771 beer bottles.
"In 2009-10, Jammu Club had consumption of IMFL was 7,636 and beer was 5,896 and in Amar Singh Club, Jammu, the consumption of IMFL was 6,868 and 6,380 beer bottles," the government said.
In the same period, in Press Club of Jammu, 11, 689 IMFL and 8974 beer bottles were consumed.
Meanwhile in Srinagar, Amar Singh Golf Club topped the list of consumption of liquor with 1723 IMFL and 1030 beer bottles in the period 2011 upto January 2012.
Amar Singh Gold Club was followed by Kashmir Golf Club with 836 IMFL and 393 beer bottles and Royal Spring Golf Club with 117 IMFL and 1047 beer bottles.(OK)
