MOLVI ABBAS ANSARI REVOKED
Srinagar, Jun 1 (Only Kashmir): Moderate Hurriyat Conference today revoked the suspension of its constituent Ittehadul Muslimeen whose patron Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari had met Centre''s interlocutors in violation of amalgam''s decision.
"In view of the report submitted by the committee formed for the purpose, it was unanimously decided that the suspension of Ittehadul Muslimeen be revoked," a Hurriyat spokesman said after a meeting of the executive committee.
IuM was suspended after its patron met the Centre''s interlocutors headed by eminent journalist Dileep Padgaonkar on April 20 at his residence.
Ansari defended himself saying the interlocutors had arrived at his residence "unannounced" and he could not turn them away as it was against Islamic teachings.
The Hurriyat formed a two-member committee to probe the incident which submitted its report to Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
On the Indo-Pak front, the amalgam said resolution of the Kashmir issue was imperative for good ties between New Delhi and Islamabad.
"There is need for positive and result-oriented steps aimed at resolution of the Kashmir issue to further peace in the South-Asian region," the spokesman said.
