AH! GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION IN SMHS RESULTS MY SISTER’S DEATH: SHAHID-UL-ISLAM

Srinagar July 11 (Only Kashmir): Hurriyat Conference (M) leader, Shahid-ul-Islam, whose younger sister passed away last night after a brief spell of illness, Monday alleged that doctors' negligence at the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital here resulted in her death.
Rubina Shah, 28, died due to kidney failure at Valley’s premier SMHS hospital.
Shahid alleged that his sister died due to the negligence of doctors. “As doctors in the Government Medical College were busy with Golden Jubilee celebrations, patients were left to die. My sister had to go for CT scan and MRI, but there was no doctor or para-medic available to carry these tests on Saturday. If CT and MRI would have been done in time my sister’s life could have been saved,” dejected Shahid said.
“The staff present in the MRI and CT section categorically refused to hold the tests,” he alleged.
Despite repeated attempts, Principal GMC, Dr Shahida Mir wasn’t available for the comment.
Meanwhile, people from all walks of life including mainstream and separatist leaders thronged the residence of Shahid to condole the bereaved family.
The funeral prayers of the deceased were led by Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in the morning.
