POLICE CONTESTS REPORT REGARDING ALLEGED HARASSMENT OF ZAHIR AHMAD GAGROO RESIDENT OF KADIKADAL SRINAGAR

Srinagar, July 02 (Only Kashmir): Apropos to a news report published in a section of press on June-27th-2011, where in a Separatist Faction had alleged harassment of youth by Police.
A Police spokesman while refuting the news reports, clarified that an enquiry conducted into the matter reveal that one youth Zahir Ahmad Gagroo son of Bashir Ahmad Gagroo resident of Kadikadal Srinagar, a 10th class student at Shaheen Public School, Budhgair, is required by Police Station M. R. Gung as witness in case FIR No. 23/2011 under section 307,311,341,323-RPC. So far as this case FIR is concerned, it may be reiterated that One Shabir Ahmad Malik son of Mehraj-din Malik resident of Armpora-Nawakadal-Srinagar had lodged a complaint with Police Division Urdu-Bazar on 22nd March,2011, alleging that his cousin Ishfaq Ahmad Malik son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Wantpora-Srinagar, ( a student of Shaheen Public School) was ruthlessly beaten by some un-known persons at Budhgair, which falls in the Jurisdiction of Police Division Urdu Bazar, and accordingly the above Case FIR was registered.
Following the procedure, the Incharge Police Division Urdu Bazar has sent a letter to the Principal Shaheen Public School on 22nd June,2011, where in the former he was requested to direct the said Zahir Ahmad Gagroo to appear before Police for recording his statements as required under section 164-A of the CrPC, in the instant case. A Police Party had also gone to the residence of the student several times in this context, which was taken otherwise.
The simple case of recording the statements of Zahir Ahmad Gagroo has been exaggerated by the vested interests in such a way so as to give a negative impression of the entire issue to malign the image of Police image.
