700 MILITANTS READY TO CROSS INTO KASHMIR: GOC HASNAIN

Srinagar Mar 17 (Only Kashmir): General Officer Commanding of strategic 15 Corps Lt General Syed Atta Hasnain on Thursday said 600-700 militants are waiting to cross into Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. "It is very difficult to put the exact number of militants who are waiting to sneak into the Valley, but we have information that 600-700 militants are waiting at different launching pads on other side of the LoC," said Hasnain in north Kashmir's Pattan town on the sidelines of a ceremony.
The army, he said, has "strong intelligence inputs" that militants will try to infiltrate in coming days or weeks as snow is melting fast on the LoC.
"We have reports militants are converging at the launching pads," said Hasnain.
Divulging details of the army's preparedness to stop infiltration, Hasnain said the counter-infiltration grid is very strong with latest surveillance devices.
"Any attempt by the militants to infiltrate will be prevented," he said.
The army has in place a three-tier security grid with Israel-made sophisticated equipment.
About the ongoing army operations Hasnain, while referring to recent encounters in Tral, Shopian and Sopore areas, said, "All these places there was no collateral damage or civilian deaths."
Hasnain referred to Sopore as a "troubled area".
