AMNESTY REPORT SHOULD BE EXAMINED IN TOTALITY: OMAR ABDULLAH

In a post on micro-blogging site Twitter, a day after the report was released to media in Srinagar, the chief minister said: 'The Amnesty report deserves to be examined in its totality before comments are rushed into. So don't expect knee jerk reactions from me.'
In another tweet, Abdullah said: 'And those of you working yourselves into a frenzy about the Amnesty report - I have not been given a copy so what do I comment about?'
Amnesty has demanded immediate scrapping of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) that is used to detain suspects without trial for years.
Describing the PSA as a 'lawless law', Amnesty estimated that 8,000-20,000 people have been detained under the law in the past two decades of insurgency in the state.
