J&K GOVT TO SET UP UMTA FOR MANAGING TRAFFIC

Jammu, Jan 2 (Only Kashmir): Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to set up Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority for the better management and regulation of vehicular traffic in state's two capital cities and major towns.
"For regulation, coordination of several departments and smooth operation of vehicular traffic, J&K government has decided to setup Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (UMTA) in the state," Minister for Transport Qmar Ali Akhoon.
He said the government has already setup a committee under Chief Secretary for this purpose.
UMTA would take care of coordinations of various transport departments, regulation and smooth operation of traffic in Jammu and Srinagar, besides other major towns in the state.
Akhoon appealed to the youth to obey traffic rules and educate their family members and neighbours to follow the instructions.
He said traffic rules will be strictly implemented for the safety of commuters as well as drivers.
