NO FRIDAY PRAYERS IN JAMIA
40 PERSONS ARRESTED FROM MIRWAIZ MANZIL INCLUDED MIRWAIZ UMAR FAROOQ
Srinagar Dec 17 (Only Kashmir):Srinagar Dec 17 (Only Kashmir): There were no Friday congregational prayers in historical Jamia Masjid and other major mosques in old city Friday in wake of the Curfew, reports and witnesses told. Reports said Jamia Masjid, in the heart of Srinagar’s old city, remained out of bounds for the people due to imposition of curfew.
Meanwhile Thursday Night Police raided Mirwaiz Manzil and arrested 40 persons including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq along with Journalists and several workers and activists of Awami Action Committee.
However Mirwaiz was later shifted to his Nigeen residence and the authorities put him under house arrest. While hundreds of workers and activists of Mirwaiz have been transferred to several police stations of city vis-à-vis Ram Mushi Bagh Police Station, Kothi Bagh Police Station.
Today People staged protest demonstrations at Lalbazar and Narwara in Srinagar against the arrest of Mirwaiz and imposing Curfew restrictions in Srinagar on Aashura.
