POLICE KEEN TO REHABILITATE RELEASED MILITANTS: IGP KASHMIR

Srinagar, Feb 23 (Only Kashmir): Concluding his recent tour of various district in the Kashmir Valley, The Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Mr. S.M.Sahai, said that the tour provided him an opportunity to know the problems faced by the People first hand.
Aimed at bridging the gap between Police and the Public, and make deeper relations to strengthen ties between the two, the IGP Kashmir Zone, Mr S.M.Sahai, visited every district of the Valley to participate Police Public meets, to interact with the masses for obtaining their feedback and suggestions and further seek their cooperation to eradicate the crime of all forms from the society.
In most of the meets, People demanded for stiff legal action against the drug menace, scarcity of essentials and lack of basic amenities, conducting of Special on-spot Police recruitment drive to over come the growing un-employment problems, delay in obtaining Passports, Rehabilitation of surrendered and released militants, and other day to day problems. It may be pertinent to mention, despite continence drive against drug peddlers by Police, the graph has increased to a tremendous level in the recent past.
The IGP has termed his tour a success and hoped that , these meets will obviously help Police and Public to work with more coordination for eradication of crime and help in maintenance of lasting Peace and tranquility. IGP, has further announced that, in the case of Rehabilitation of released militants, a comprehensive rehabilitation Policy has been formulated, where in the NGO’s-(Non-governmental organisations) have been involved and asked to play their role as well. These youth are part and parcel of the society and it is the moral obligation of every one living here to play their part. He has further asserted, that as far the issue of difficulties in obtaining of Pass-ports is concerned, this issue has been taken up with the concerned authorities to look into the matter very sympathetically. IGP further said, cases will be withdrawn, against those youth (Stone pelters) who are not involved in acts of arson and destruction of Public property.(OK)
