Jammu April 02 (Only Kashmir): Director General Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda today said that there has been a 45 percent drop in militancy in Jammu and Kashmir from January to March compared to the corresponding period last year.
"In view of stepped up operations of police many top militant commanders have been eliminated. At the same time, the number of civilian and security personnel killings have come down to a great extent," Khoda told media prisons here.
The state police chief maintained, “Overall it has been a 45 percent decline in militancy," adding that efforts were on to neutralize militants.
Khoda informed that there would be no forces coming from outside the state for Panchyat polls beginning from April 13. “The state has not asked for additional troops for the forthcoming Panchayat polls,” he said.
It may recall here that the separatist leaders have called for a boycott of the polls.
