Srinagar April 19 (Only Kashmir): Jamiat Ahli-Hadees Monday announced the formation of a ten-member committee to probe the killing of its president Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah.
After a meeting with leaders of social, religious and pro-freedom groups at the Jamiat's Barbarshah headquarters, acting Jamiat president, Ghulam Rasool Malik, told reporters that besides himself the committee will have chairmen of parallel Hurriyat factions, Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman, Yasin Malik, Aga Syed Hassan Ali Mousavi, Moulana Abbas Ansari , Sheikh Mohammad Hassan, Moulana Showket Hussain Keng, Abdul Rehman Bhatt, and Dr Yusuf as its members.
"After hectic deliberations today, it was decided that the ten-member committee will look at all the aspects of the Maulana's assassination and utilize all resources to expose the killers. The committee will also seek the co-operation of United Jehad Council during the course of its
investigation," Malik, who will head the probe committee, said.
Regarding the police claim, Malik said that the party is not rejecting it. "To be satisfied, we will probe the killing and will try to identify the culprit."
