MIRWAIZ PINS HOPE ON BAN-KI-MOON TO END ‘OPPRESSION’ IN KASHMIR

Srinagar, 24 Sep (Only Kashmir): Chairman Hurriyat (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has welcomed the statement of United Nation’s General Secretary, Ban-Ki-Moon in which he had urged for an immediate end to the violence in Kashmir and appealed for restraint by all parties.In a statement issued here to KMW, Mirwaiz expressed hope that the general secretary would “use his influence to put an end to state sponsored terrorism, barbarity and oppression on Kashmiri people and for a peaceful and everlasting solution of the Kashmir issue.”Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Hurriyat faction said, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Iran participated in the special session of OIC’s Kashmir Contact Group in New York while as Sardar Attique Khan from Azad Kashmir represented and appraised the session of the grave situation in Kashmir. Khan also impressed upon the OIC to press India for resolving the Kashmir dispute and condemned India’s state terrorism in Kashmir and Mirwaiz Farooq’s house arrest, the spokesman said.Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also scheduled to address the session , but could not participate due to the and curbs and restrictions on his movement, the spokesman added.
